Why was I charged a cancellation fee?
Great question!
When an order is placed, fees involve payment processing, order placement, and fulfillment. At a very minimum, for just placing an order, there are fees incurred from payment providers to receive payment. These vary from 3-6% ALONE, depending on the payment method selected.
Once the item is in place with a warehouse for fulfillment, it is challenging to halt it from going out the door. Our systems provide lightning-fast fulfillment times for hundreds of orders daily, and if an item is in stock, it is likely to start that process shortly after order placement. It then costs us to pay employees to attempt to track down and halt that order quickly.
You may then ask, why am I being charged a fee even if the item isn’t shipping yet?
In these cases, the payment processing fees still occur. On top of that, many vendors/manufacturers charge fees for dropship/special order/preorder items to have them removed from production and canceled. We work diligently to have an accurate status on every product page, showing what to expect when you place an order so that there are no surprises. We believe strongly in only charging what is due and only charging these fees when necessary. However, any fees in order errors are only fair to be passed on to the end-user as we are not responsible for mistakes in order placement.
